Water has returned to the Delaware Canal in New Hope.

The Friends of the Delaware Canal announced Wednesday that a temporary pump was installed this week to replace the damaged pump at Centre Bridge, which was the subject of discussion during the May 20 meeting of New Hope Borough Council.The discovery of the nonfunctioning pump came April 23, but it took several weeks for the water in New Hope’s section of the canal to drain out. When it did, Delaware Canal State Park staff inspected the pump and, along with the FODC and Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, worked to have a temporary pump installed.
